Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson sister in-law Tare Konyefa gathered some group of thugs and beat up a lawyer from the Legal Aid Council, Mrs. Bina Oregbeme and her husband heavily.

Mr and Mrs Oregbeme were said to have been dealth with badly by the thugs as they where returning from a church programme in Yenagoa on Sunday when the incident occurred. The couple were said to have incurred Konyefa’s wrath when they questioned her reckless driving.

Konyefa was said to have lorded it over the couple boasting that they were in charge and that the lawyer and her husband were too small to question her conduct on the road.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity out of fear of “Madam Tare Konyefa,” said the incident took place near a traffic light.

The eyewitness, who narrated the incident with shock, said the couple were returning from church dedications when traffic light stopped them. He said as the couple were waiting for the traffic light to clear them, Koyenfa drove past them and allegedly blocked them with her Toyota RAV4.

He said, “Konyefa blocked them on the side they were supposed to make a divert. The green light was on their (couple’s) side while the red light was on the side of those going through Imgbi Road.

So, husband of the lawyer was hooting for Konyefa’s car so that they could negotiate their way. “Bina on her part was using her hand and telling them ‘we are making a turn, we are making a turn,” while her husband was still sounding his horn.

“But instead of Konyefa to give them way to pass, she blocked them. She came down from her car and started barking at the couple in Pidgin, ‘So na wetin una wan do? Una wan beat me?’ Bina was unhappy at her conduct and told her that if the FRSC officials were to be around, she would have reported her to them.”
The eyewitness claimed that Konyefa was angry at Bina’s reaction and descended on the lawyer and her husband.
