Centenary celebrations: FCT police ban use of tinted vehicle

Centenary celebrations: FCT police ban use of tinted vehicle
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  Police Command said it  has taken all necessary security steps to guarantee peaceful Centenary celebration.

To this end, the command said it has placed a ban on the use of vehicles with tinted glasses without permit, use of vehicles without number plates, covering of number plates and the use of number plates that are not authorized by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

It says persons caught violating the order would have themselves to blame.

Similarly, the police have advised operators of Keke NAPEP and street hawkers to stay away from the city centre and operate only within their designated routes or be ready to bear the full weight of the law.

FCT Police Commissioner, Mbu Joseph Mbu, who gave the warning after a familiarization tour of police area commands in Abuja, said criminals would have a tough time to operate under his leadership as commissioner and advised them to relocate elsewhere or better still give up their unholy trade.

Mbu, who took time to visit all the exit routes in the FCT, said the visit would help him to plan how to checkmate and counter the hoodlums who constitute nuisance and instill fear in the hearts of travelers and other road users.

He commended officers of the command for putting in place structures to contain the menacing hoodlums and appealed to residents of Abuja to be law abiding and support the police, saying that the Command under his leadership will enforce all extant laws of the FCT geared towards achieving law, order and peaceful co-existence
